Application of High-Speed Camera in Microfluidic Solvent Extraction Technology

1.Background

Sol-gel method is the use of compounds containing highly chemically active components as precursors, in the liquid phase, these raw materials are uniformly mixed, and hydrolysis, condensation chemical reaction, the formation of a stable transparent sol system in solution, the sol by the slow polymerization of the aging gel particles between the gel to form a three-dimensional network structure of the gel, the gel network is filled with a loss of mobility of solvent, the formation of the gel, and then through the drying, sintering curing and other post-processing The desired material is prepared.

2. Content of The Study

It is worth noting that solvent extraction has a great influence on the final product. However, poorly controllable extraction processes generally limit solvent extraction to modulate the morphology and structure of inorganic materials. In this study, Mr. Luo's research team at Tsinghua University, successfully constructed a two-stage microfluidic chip using a PIV particle image velocimetry system plus a high-speed camera.

3.Research Conclusion

In this study, making full use of a high-speed camera and a PIV particle image velocimetry system, the two-stage microfluidic system successfully decoupled droplet generation and solidification, while revealing the internal microstructure as well as the mechanism of solidification by the internal circulation mechanism under extraction.

4. Applications

Traditionally, high-speed cameras are more often used in macro larger observation objects, while PIV particle image velocimetry system is more often used in the water flow field, wind tunnels and other scenarios. However, with the segmentation of the research field, it is difficult for a single device and method to solve the complex research. Revealer combines the self-developed PIV particle image velocimetry system and high-speed camera, which covers more scenarios in the application, and also brings a brand-new solution idea for the researcher.
