The 3rd National Academic Conference on Frontiers and Applications of Wave Dynamics was grandly held in Chongqing from October 10th to 12th. The conference brought together top experts and scholars in the field of wave dynamics in China, focusing on in-depth discussions on cutting-edge theories and engineering applications of wave dynamics. As a high-tech enterprise dedicated to innovation in high-speed visual perception and measurement technology, HF Agile Device Co.,Ltd participated in the exhibition and exchange with Revealer high-speed cameras and digital image correlation (DIC) instruments, and reported to the participating experts typical applications in topics highly related to experimental characterization, such as "Metastructural Wave Dynamics and Design", "Seismic Wave Dynamics", and "Biomedical Ultrasound".

Application 1: Metastructural Wave Dynamics Design

01 Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute

Metastructural wave dynamics is committed to realizing active control of elastic wave propagation through artificial structure design. Metastructural materials are mainly used for vibration and noise reduction as well as energy harvesting. Research in this field focuses on the accurate measurement of full-field deformation and vibration modes of metastructures under dynamic loads. Traditional single-point measurement methods such as laser vibrometers are difficult to capture the overall deformation mode of the structure. The Revealer 3D high-speed DIC instrument provided by HF Agile Device Co.,Ltd realizes stereo imaging through two high-speed cameras, synchronously captures the dynamic response process of the metastructure under transient mechanisms, obtains the 3D displacement field on the surface, reconstructs multi-order vibration modes, identifies local modes and wave propagation paths, and verifies theoretical models and finite element simulations.

In a vibration test of a large aircraft simulated horizontal stabilizer, high-speed cameras were used to capture the transient process of the horizontal stabilizer's vibration response, and digital image correlation (DIC) instruments were used to identify its modal frequencies and vibration modes, providing data support for aeroelastic design and fatigue evaluation.

Application 2: Seismic Wave Dynamics

02 Beijing Jiaotong University Cultural Relic Replica

In the fields of seismic engineering and cultural heritage protection, the dynamic response of building components or cultural relics under seismic waves is an important basis for evaluating the stability of the components. Traditional sensors are difficult to arrange and are vulnerable to electromagnetic interference. The use of digital image correlation (DIC) instruments can realize non-contact full-field motion tracking and displacement response measurement of complex structures under seismic wave excitation.

In an experiment simulating a seismic environment for a cultural relic replica, two full HD high-speed cameras from Revealer were used to record the displacement trajectory of the cultural relic replica under different seismic waves at a parameter of 2560×1920 @2000fps. Digital image correlation (DIC) instruments were used to output key parameters such as displacement, velocity, acceleration, and tilt angle, providing measured data for the dynamic modeling and seismic design of ancient building structures.

Application 3: Biomedical Ultrasound and Bubble Dynamics

03 Northwestern Polytechnical University Ultrasonic Bubbles

In biomedical ultrasound research, the cavitation and resonance dynamic behaviors of bubbles under ultrasonic excitation directly affect ultrasound imaging, drug delivery, and therapeutic effects. In an experiment conducted by a university, a high-speed camera combined with a microscopic optical system was used to observe the full-cycle fragmentation process of bubbles excited by an ultrasonic device, providing intuitive images for analyzing cavitation thresholds and studying cavitation mechanisms.

From the seismic response of macrostructures to the bubble dynamics at the microscale, the research boundaries of wave dynamics are constantly expanding. With the advantages of high frame rate, high resolution, non-contact, and full-field measurement, Revealer high-speed cameras and DIC strain measurement systems provide support for scientific experiments in multiple cutting-edge directions of wave dynamics.
