The 2025 Chinese Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is about to be held grandly. Experimental mechanics, as a bridge connecting fundamental theory and engineering applications, has its advanced experimental tools under the spotlight. Revealer Scientific Instruments will participate in the exhibition with high-speed cameras and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) measurement systems, providing non-contact, high-precision, and multi-scale measurement tools for experimental mechanics research in various application scenarios.

Application 1 - Experimental Mechanics at the Microscale · Thermal Strain in Chips

Thermal warpage of chips affects their reliability and lifespan. Characterizing the thermal strain of chips and studying the evolution of strain under thermal loads are crucial for optimizing packaging processes and enhancing product reliability. By using the Micro-DIC (Digital Image Correlation) technique in combination with a stereo microscope and an in-situ heating stage, it is possible to visually observe the thermomechanical coupling behavior of packaging structures and quantify the local thermal strain distribution across the chip's cross-section. This also helps to verify the accuracy of finite element simulation models.

Application 2 - Experimental Mechanics under Extreme Impact Loads·Drop Hammer Impact

Drop hammer impact testing is used to simulate the impact conditions that materials and protective structures experience during actual use, and to assess the impact resistance and damage mechanisms of materials. Utilizing the Revealer High-Speed DIC Strain Measurement System, the deformation process during the moment of impact is recorded by a high-speed camera. The DIC analysis generates displacement and strain contour maps, which fully reveal the complete dynamic response process of materials and protective structures from elastic deformation, yielding to ultimate failure. This provides crucial experimental evidence for optimizing the design of impact-resistant structures.

Application 3 - Experimental Mechanics under High-Temperature Thermal Loads·Tensile Testing of Special Materials

The mechanical properties of materials and structural components are subject to stringent requirements in high-temperature working conditions such as those in aero-engines. The Revealer High-Temperature DIC Strain Measurement System, with its specialized high-temperature speckle preparation technology, is capable of measuring the tensile strain of metallic materials at extreme temperatures nearing 1,000 degrees Celsius. This allows for the assessment of the materials' high-temperature resistance and confirmation of the dimensions of structural components.
